IUML demanded immediate action against Shiv Sena Chief to stop publication of such write up which harms any particular community.

Notably, Mr. Thackeray, who is known for making inflammatory remarks against Muslims time to time, demanded ban on burqa in Samna’s editorial on 19th Oct following a condemnable incident in which a burqa clad woman stole two-month-old child from a hospital in Mumbai on Oct. 15.

The IUML also wrote to Union Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, National Commission for Minorities, National Commission for Women and National Human Rights Commission seeking their interference into the matter because it is related to religious right of Muslim community.

The party expressed fear that if strict action is not taken against Thackeray, it will create threat for Muslim women who wear burqa which is mandatory for them in the light of Islamic Shariah because Shiv Sena workers may try to harm them.
