Desire greater role for India in Afghan: Russia

Chaubattia, Uttarakhand state : Russia today said it desired “a greater role” for India in Afghanistan and that it did not that country to “become a source for terrorism” that would adversely affect the two nations if the US-led international forces left that country without peace and stability returning there.

Russian Federation Ambassador to India Alexander M Kadakin also told reporters here that both India and his country were on the “same side” in their fight against international terrorism.

Asked about what Russia thought of India’s role in Afghanistan, Kadakin said, “We desire that India’s role increases in Afghanistan. This is what we desire and this is our thought process.”

He said what Russia can do for Afghan people, it is doing and will continue to do.

“The facilities that we created in Afghanistan during the Soviet era, we are rebuilding and repairing them. We will do this.
