Mumbai Muslims call for peace after Ayodhya verdict

Mumbai: “We call for peace either the Babri Masjid title suit goes against or in favor of us” announced activists of different NGOs of Minorities, mainly Muslims, at a press conference in Mumbai on Friday.

The Federation of Minorities NGOs of Maharashtra made a call to VHP and other organizations to come forward and work for peace and communal harmony before the announcement of Babri Masjid title suit decision that is coming on 24th September 2010.

The hearing on the ownership of the land was completed on July 25, 2010 and final verdict will be delivered by Special Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court on September 24, 2010.

Muslims should maintain peace and must not resort to violence, requested Burhanuddin Qasmi, General Secretary, Markazul Maarif center. He said: “If the verdict goes against Muslims then there is an option to appeal against it in the Supreme Court.”

Appreciating the boycott of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pardesh, Kalyan Singh by the people of Ayodhya on his visit on 16th September, 2010 Burhanuddin Qasmi asserted “Politicians who created this issue must stay away now and let not the fabric of communal harmony be ripped off.”

Dr. Azimuddin of Human Welfare Forum termed the rejection of petitions seeking deferment of Babri verdict as correct. He said the decision is coming after 60 years and the “time for out of court settlement is over. Everybody must respect the verdict now and must maintain law and order situation.

Our country is progressing and setting new commercial and economic milestones also. We are one of the leaders in information technology. Salim Alware, Kokan United Forum reiterated and appealed for harmony and peace. He said that world will be watching us because of the Common Wealth Games and it’s our duty “not to defame our nation.”

Iqbal Memon, Vice President, All India Memon Jamaat, Dr. Abdullah, M.A. Khalid, All India Milli Council also addressed the press conference. They call the youth of the nation and appealed, “Youth should not believe in rumors’ and should not resort to violence because it is not the solution of any problem.”
