New Delhi: The union government is planning to set up a mechanism to encourage cleaner fuel and low-emission vehicles, a top government official said here Saturday.
“Detailed consultations with all the stakeholders are going on for setting up of an empowered mechanism to encourage alternate fuel and electric mobility including hybrid vehicles,” said B.S. Meena, secretary, union Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
Meena also invited automobile and auto component companies in European Union (EU) and specifically, in Germany, to come to India for partnership and cooperation in research and development.
“I see tremendous possibilities for partnership and cooperation between the governments of Germany and India,” Meena added.
He also outlined the possibilities of cooperation in the areas of automotive research and development, cleaner and environment-friendly vehicular technologies, intelligent transport systems, road and vehicular safety.
