Kanwar made the announcement in the state assembly and said a judicial probe will make matters clear on what happened with tribal civilians in insurgency-riddled Dantewada district.

Civilians of Tarmetla and two other villages have claimed that policemen had burnt down more than 200 houses, killed a few people and even raped some women. Newspaper photographs showed scenes of houses burnt.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government had March 24 set up a four-member probe panel besides a magisterial inquiry after residents of the three villagers alleged that policemen went on a rampage between March 11-16.
