Guwahati : Congress president Sonia Gandhi Friday congratulated the Indian team for reaching the World Cup finals and expressed the hope that it wins against Sri Lanka in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Gandhi began addressing a campaign rally in Nilambazar in southern Assam by hailing Team India for beating Pakistan at Mohali Wednesday.
“First of all I would like to congratulate India for reaching the finals,” she said, drawing huge applause.
“Now our best wishes are with Team India so that we are able to win the World Cup,” she added. India and Sri Lanka will clash in the final in Mumbai Saturday.
Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi sat among the general public at the cricket stadium in Mohali and kept cheering for Team India all through the match.
