Charleston (US) : India’s Sania Mirza went down to China’s Peng Shuai in the singles quarterfinals of the Family Circle Cup tennis.
Sania, who reached her first WTA Tour quarterfinals since San Diego in August 2007 here, lost to 11th-seeded Chinese 6-2, 2-6, 2-6.
The Indian, who came through qualifiers, is still in contention for the doubles where she along with Russia’s Elena Vesnina will play Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia and Australia’s Anastasia Rodionova for a place in the semifinals.
