“Let bygones be bygones. We want to spend our energies on the actual draft of the bill. Our agreement is to move towards a solution,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said here.

Replying to questions about how the government accepted the demand for a joint drafting committee, which some leaders had earlier termed as against constitutional norms, Singhvi said the agreement reached with the protestors was not an acceptance that the party’s earlier position on the issue was wrong.

Repeatedly asked if it was not a surrender, Singhvi said media should not create sensatonalism.

“This is not the time for allegations and counter allegations. This is time to find a solution by sitting in the committee and looking at the provisions”, he said.

Hazare called off his 97-hour-long hunger strike Saturday after government came out with a notification for a joint committee of ministers and civil society activists to draft Lokpal Bill.
