New Delhi : The new-look Delhi Daredevils are a pale shadow of their past and lost both their Indian Premier League matches so far, but Irfan Pathan believes they could well turn out to be the surprise package of the tournament.
Daredevils, who twice reached the semifinals in the last three editions, has a completely changed side with 10 new players this season. They are struggling to find the right combination.
Pathan, a prominent member of Delhi Daredevils, says his team is confident of getting their act together as the tournament progresses.
“I can tell you that there are some outstanding match winners in our team and once they start performing we will be the surprise package,” the left-arm paceman said.
Pathan, who played for Kings XI Punjab in the last three season, also said that Daredevils are not missing their local players who has been roped in by other teams this year.
“Many teams have a different set of players. So we can’t complain,” Pathan said during an interaction with reporters during an event organised by Max healthcare which is providing health care to the Daredevils.
Noting the importance of fitness of cricketers, Pervez Ahmed, managing director Max Healthcare, said: “With the amount of cricket being played, fitness of the players is an area of prime concern and through this initiative we aim at extending our expertise for keeping them fit.”
