Rs.300 crore package for Ghaziabad slum cluster

Ghaziabad : The Uttar Pradesh government Monday announced a package of Rs.300 crore for the development of Khoda slum cluster in Ghaziabad district that has a population of over five lakh.

Adressing a press conference here, Ghazaiabad District Magistrate Hridesh Kumar said Chief Minister Mayawati agreed on the package in a meeting Saturday after receiving many complaints about the miserable living conditions in the area bordering Delhi. She has assured additional funds, if needed, from the Noida authority for the development of the area, he added.

Under the package, Rs.39 crore will be for development of roads and drains of the colony, Rs.200 crore for the sewerage system, Rs.20 crore for the establishment of power stations and improving the power network, Rs.2 crore for the development of middle level education, Rs.4 crore for the development of health related infrastructure and Rs.34 crore for the improvement of water supply system.

Khoda slum is spread over 1,260 hectares and comprises 78 colonies.

Noida (Gautam Budh Nagar) District Magistrate Deepak Aggrawal and Noida Authority chief executive officer Rama Raman were also present in the press conference.
