Moscow : Russia would take “certain decisions” if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad does not reconcile with the opposition, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned.
“Unfortunately, people die there in big numbers. This causes our deep concern. Reforms in Syria are needed urgently. He should reconcile with the opposition, restore civil peace and create a modern state,” Xinhua quoted Medvedev as telling Interfax news agency.
“If he fails to do so, his fate will be sad. We also will have to make some certain decisions,” he said.
Medvedev said Russia was watching closely the situation in Syria, which has been changing “in a very dramatic way”, and Moscow’s objectives there would change accordingly.
Moscow has repeatedly said it was firmly opposed to foreign interference in Syria.
