Initiating the probe, the commission made its maiden and an unannounced visit to the affected village of Bhajanpur on 30th July and interacted with the villagers including the victim families.

According to the villagers, there was no prior information about the visit of the commission. Chairman of the commission and retired Patna High Court judge Madhvendra Sharan spent about one and half an hour in the village. He had verbal interaction with the villagers including the victim families. Justice Sharan had gone there with retired district and sessions judge SM Nasimuddin. It is not clear in which capacity Justice Nasimuddin was accompanying him as it is a one-member commission.

A resident informed TCN that the commission told the villagers that within two-three days a notice will be published in newspapers and they will have to send their statement in affidavit form to the Patna office of the commission. However, more than a week has since passed, the notice is yet to appear.

The commission team proceeded from the village to the government guest house where, according to the residents, the commission interacted with the officials of Auro Sundaram International Pvt Ltd. It is said that commission formally recorded their statement.

Residents say they are unable to understand as to why the commission did not record their statement, and rather asked them to send their statement in affidavit form after the publication of a particular notice while they have recorded the statement of the company officials.
