Ranchi : Six people died in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district Friday after a high voltage wire snapped and fell on the bus in which they were travelling, police said.
The bus, with more than 40 people on board, touched an 11,000 volt wire near Bonga village as its driver tried to overtake other vehicles to escape a traffic jam, police said.
Five people died on the spot and one died during treatment. More than 15 people injured in the incident were admitted to Sadar Hospital in Hazaribagh for treatment.
“There was traffic jam on the National Highway 33 near Bonga as the bridge has been damaged due to incessant rains. The bus driver tried to overtake the vehicles which led to the incident,” a police official in Hazaribagh told IANS over telephone.
