Car exports contribution to national exchequer increases: Patel

New Delhi : The share of car exports in foreign exchange contribution to the national exchequer increased 1.95 percent at Rs.15,276.17 crore in the last fiscal.

According to information provided to the Rajya Sabha Tuesday by Praful Patel, minister for heavy industries and public enterprises, the contribution share of car exports in the over-all exports of Rs.7,81,175.32 crore in 2010-11 was 1.95 percent (Rs.15,276.17 crore) from 1.75 percent at Rs.14,481.86 crore in 2009-10.

The minister further informed parliament that revenues generated from collecting excise duty from car manufacturers also increase by 26.35 percent in 2010-11 at Rs.5,001 crore as against Rs.3,958 crore in 2009-10.

The minister added that car production in last fiscal increased by 26.93 percent at 24,53,113 units as compared to 19,32,620 units in 2009-10.
