Thiruvananthapuram : Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Tuesday announced that a mechanism would be in place soon to control prices of basic medicines in the state.
Speaking to reporters here, Chandy said pharmaceutical companies would not be allowed to have a free run in fixing prices of medicines.
“There have been instances where the same medicine was being sold at different prices. This will not happen from now. We have called a meeting here of all pharmaceutical companies on Sep 4 to discuss this,” said Chandy.
He said that the government would also meet doctors’ organisations to find a solution.
Chandy said the state-owned Kerala Medical Services Corp Ltd. would be the nodal agency for fixing medicine prices.
