Dhaka: The Bangladeshi cabinet Monday approved a new anti-human trafficking law which includes a provision for death penalty for traffickers.
The approval came at the regular cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Xinhua reported.
The anti-human trafficking law will help in preventing human trafficking, which is also an international concern, said Abul Kalam Azad, the prime minister’s press secretary, after the cabinet meeting.
A trafficker can also be awarded life imprisonment with a fine of 500,000 taka (over $6,300) under the new law, he added.
