Though the United Nations [UN] Commission for Human Rights (UNCHR) declared the year 2011, on the name of human rights defenders, CLMC in its special report released on Saturday, expressed its deep concern over the Human Rights violations even under its supervision as the UNCHR has now turned out to be a silent spectator. The UN has failed to take notice of the atrocities carried out by the American Forces, NATO and the Israel world wide.

On the national level CLMC report condemned the state attitude towards the democratic rights of people by even waging the war against them; with state atrocities like ‘Operation Green Hunt’. The report drove attention to the fact that innocent people are forced to languish in jails, just because they have ideological differences with the political class. Due to the ‘Kill and get promotion’ policy of government of India [Auxiliary promotions], the common man’s life is in danger. It is a matter of deep concern that Indian police is killing the common people in “encounters” vaguely naming them terrorists. CLMC expressed deep concern over the violation of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir and North eastern states.

The report demanded to repeal draconian laws like AFSPA. The report condemned the brutal killing of Kishenji being called for peace talks in the same way as Azad was killed. The report concluded that it is high time to introduce the Communal Violence Bill, 2011 as communalism recently has seen its threshold heights frequently and minority communities seems targeted very systematically.

Turning on to Andhra Pradesh, the report expressed grave concern over the repression of peoples’ movement for separate Telangana state. The report condemned recent attacks on Muslim youths in Andhra, by the Hindu Vahini terrorists. Regarding Makkah Masjid bomb blast, the report made it clear that the G.O. for compensating the acquitted innocent Muslim youths, itself is so confusing, unclear, and unfair because the people who died in the blast were Muslims, who died in the subsequent police firing were Muslims and even the youth who were illegally detained and tortured were Muslims. And now the money that would be paid for compensation to the victims of police torture in connection with Makkah Masjid bomb blast is from the Makkah Masjid funds, so strange!, said the report.

On the International Human Rights Day, CLMC made the following demands:

1. We demand the implementation of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
