New Delhi : An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police Wednesday morning fired at and critically injured a head constable over a petty issue here, and is now on the run, police said.
Satender Khokar, 27, was shot at by ASI Ramnath Upadhyay, 59, around 8.30 a.m. in Welcome area of east Delhi.
A police officer said the two, who are neigbours, got into an argument over the issue of throwing garbage.
“This morning, when Khokar came out of his house to go to work, the ASI also came out and started abusing him. They got into a heated argument. The ASI then snatched the service revolver of the victim and fired at him,” added the officer.
Khokar received two bullet injuries on his chest and stomach.
“He was rushed to hospital and is stated to be critical,” the officer added.
A case has been registered against the ASI, who is now on the run, according to the officer.
