Guwahati: Teresa Rehman, journalist and media consultant from Assam has been selected for the Laadli Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2010-11 (Eastern Region) in the Web English category. The award was presented today in Bhubaneswar, Orissa.

The Laadli Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity is aimed to annually recognize and reward gender just perspectives, stories and analyses by various news media including print, internet, audio (radio) and audio-visual (television) media. Apart from this, there are also national awards for similar efforts in advertising.
The award is being presented by Population First, an NGO registered as a Public Trust under The Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 and is working on population and health issues within the framework of women’s rights and social development. Reducing gender imbalances, investing for the current and future population and reaching the goal of replacement level fertility are the key communication objectives of Population First.
