New Delhi: Badruddin Ajmal, president of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has responded to the cases of torture and harassment of Bengali speaking Assamese Muslims by Delhi police. TCN last week published two stories about the harassment of genuine Assamese in the national capital in the name of ‘Bangladeshi’.
Mr. Ajmal told TCN that he knew that Delhi police harassed and tortured Muslim residents of Assam on the pretext of being illegal Bangladeshi migrants, an issue he took up several times with the Union Home Minister and home secretary but it hardly yielded any result.

So he took an initiative to help out the helpless Bangla speaking Assamese residents. He has started a helpline specifically to deal with such cases and help the victims.
“I have formed a committee just to offer legal as well as other kinds of help to vulnerable victims of Delhi police. The committee can be contacted any time by the victims,” informed the lone AIUDF MP from Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency in Assam.
“I suggest you can request them (the victims) to contact the helpline and it will certainly help them out,” added Mr. Ajmal.
The Delhi helpline number is 011-23795357. The other number which can be contacted in such cases is that of Advocate Hilal Choudhary on 09968288347. People who want to contact Mr. Ajmal can also talk to him on 03674-252330/252218
