Lucknow : Two Nepali nationals suspected of supplying explosives to Maoists have been arrested with a cache of detonators and gelatin sticks in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, police said Friday.
The two men – Deepak Bahadur and Udan Bhuda – were arrested Thursday near the India-Nepal border in Rupaidiha town.
“Around 850 detonators and over 1,400 gelatin rods have been seized from the possession of the duo, who could have links with Maoists,” police inspector J.L. Sonkar told reporters Friday in Bahraich, some 140 km from Lucknow.
“The two were arrested while they were on their way to Nepal. We are yet to ascertain where from the duo received detonators and gelatin rods in such a huge quantity,” he added.
According to police, Bahadur and Budha are natives Nepal’s Jumla district.
