Demanding construction of an over-bridge, Rama Shankar Khateria, who represents the Agra constituency in the Lok Sabha, Wednesday disrupted rail traffic for several hours at the Etmadpur rail crossing in the Taj city.

Khateria along with his supporters even abused the railway staff who tried to defuse the situation.

On the directions of senior officials, a case against Khateria and his supporters was registered Wednesday night with the Tundla railway station Government Railway Police (GRP) in Firozabad district, some 250 km from Lucknow.

“The MP and his supporters have been booked under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 143 (unlawful assembly), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation),” Tundla GRP inspector A.K. Gautam told reporters Thursday.

“Of the 100-odd supporters, only 20 have so far been identified,” he said.

Police are yet to make any arrest.
