Hindutva terror: AMU demands foolproof security

Aligarh: In the light of Hidutva terror suspect Swami Aseemanand’s disclosure in his confession that Aligarh Muslim University is also a terror target by Hindu extremists, Vice Chancellor Prof P.K. Abdul Azis has demanded foolproof security to its students, staff and their families and the properties of the University.

“AMU Vice Chancellor has written letters to the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and the District Magistrate, Aligarh seeking full security for AMU, the symbol of Muslim education in India, which was also a terror target as per the recently reported revelations,” said Dr Rahat Abrar, AMU PRO.

RSS activist Aseemanand has confessed before a Delhi magistrate that he and other Hindu extremists were behind blasts in Malegaon, Ajmer, Mecca Masjid and Samjhauta Express.

AMU VC has also appealed to all staff and students to be extremely vigilant to insulate the University campus from any sort of infiltration by such extremists. AMU staff and students have been advised to carry their identity cards and vehicles entering the campus shall cooperate with the Proctorial security staff at all entry points.

The Provosts have been advised to see that unauthorized persons do not enter the hostels under their jurisdiction. All Chairmen of the Departments of Studies and Principals of Colleges have also been advised to remain alert with respect to security of the university, informed Dr Abrar.
