“There are chances of scattered mild to moderate rainfall and snowfall in the state Jan 29 and 30,” Meteorological Office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.

He said the western disturbances – storm systems originating from the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region – would be active in the region.

“Some hill stations like Kufri, Fagu, Narkanda, Kalpa, Sangla, Dalhousie and Manali are likely to witness mild snowfall,” he added.

According to him, the higher reaches in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and Chamba might experience moderate snow.

The minimum temperature in Shimla was 3.7 degrees Celsius Friday, while it was minus 3.2 degrees at Kalpa in Kinnaur district, minus 0.2 degrees at Bhuntar and 2.3 degrees at Dharamsala.

Keylong, some 200 km from Manali, remained the coldest in the state with a low of minus 15.7 degrees.
