Bangladesh Railway signs $16.45mn contract with Indian firm

Dhaka : Bangladesh Railway Monday inked a $16.45 million contract with an Indian company to supply wagons.

The contract was signed with the Indian company Texmaco Limited as part of 20 development projects to be undertaken under the $1 billion credit line between Bangladesh and India, Daily Star reported.

According to the contract, 165 broad-gauge oil tank wagons and six broad-gauge brake vans will be supplied within a year.

Bangladesh Railway director general Abu Taher and Texmaco’s senior vice president A.K. Sinha signed the contract.

As per the $16.45 million agreement, Delhi will finance the project and the Indian company will supply the wagons and brake vans.

Bangladesh Railway covers a length of 2,855 km.
