“The government will review, analyse the issue and would take a final decision on diesel prices in two months,” Dikshit told the reporters after a cabinet meeting.

The central government June 24 hiked the prices of diesel, kerosene and cooking gas by Rs.3 per litre, Rs.2 per litre and Rs.50 per cylinder of 14.4 kg respectively.

On June 27, the Delhi government announced a marginal decrease of 37 paise per litre in diesel prices.

But three days later, petrol and diesel prices were increased by 27 paise and 15 paise per litre respectively, after the government approved the plea of petrol pump dealers to raise their commission.

The government increased dealers’ commission to Rs.1,499 per kilolitre, or 1,000 litres, of petrol and to Rs.912 per kilolitre of diesel.

With this, the Delhi price of petrol rose to Rs.63.64 per litre, and of Diesel to Rs.41.27 per litre.
