New Delhi : Strongly condemning the “heinous” Mumbai attacks, India Thursday said the terror strikes would not impact the strategic dialogue with the US and peace talks with Pakistan later this month.
“They are (on schedule). There is no change in the scheduled visits of Secretary Clinton or the foreign minister of Pakistan,” External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna told reporters on the sidelines of his meeting with Burhanuddin Rabbani, chairman of the High Peace Council of Afghanistan and a former Afghan president.
“This is yet another grim reminder to everyone in this region and our country that terror is a continuing threat to India and it is necessary for all Indians to be ever vigilant of these terrorist attacks,” he said.
Condemning the “dastardly and heinous attacks on Mumbai”, Krishna said the state would do everything within its power to bring the guilty to justice at the earliest.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will touch down in New Delhi Monday on a three-day visit for the second edition of the India-US Strategic Dialogue.
Pakistan’s foreign minister is expected to come here for talks July 26-27.
Although the motive behind the July 13 attack in Mumbai is not known, the timing of the attack has raised suspicions in informed strategic circles whether the serial blasts were engineered by those who wanted to derail the peace process between India and Pakistan.
