“The provisions for assisting differently-abled students will be made at both the old and the new campus. We have already identified 25 such spots,” Superintendent of work D.P. Tiwari told reporters here.

At present there are over 300 disabled students in the Lucknow University.

Lifts, ramps and specially-designed washrooms would be set up for them, he said.

“We intend to spend around Rs.3 crore on these facilities that would be provided in a phased manner,” he added.

Initially the facilities would come up at the Education Department, examination hall, Institute of Development Studies and the postgraduate block.

The LU has over 30,000 students enrolled in various graduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes.
