Islamabad: Pakistan’s new Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, who is set to visit New Delhi July 26-27, said India is “serious about the composite dialogue” and her priority is to set the course for future bilateral relations.
The Pakistani minister is scheduled to hold talks with her Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna July 27 in New Delhi. She is expected to arrive there one day ahead.
It was the success of Pakistan to bring India back to the negotiating table, she told a private TV channel Saturday, the APP news agency reported.
Highlighting Pakistan’s position at the upcoming talks, she said Islamabad wanted to “look at the entire picture and the root causes of problems”.
She added that both sides will take stock of the progress made at the secretary-level talks during their meeting.
She said Pakistan is in close contact with neighbouring countries, particularly Afghanistan and India, to achieve sustainable peace and stability in the region.
To a question about the arrest of Kashmiri leader Ghulam Nabi Fai in the US on charges of working for Pakistani intelligence agencies, Khar said Fai is a US citizen and “he will be able to resolve his present problem within the available system.”
