Mr Noushad said, “The organisation has been bringing up issues of rehabilitation of the victims of development projects, landless people and the effects of development activities on the environment, etc. Now the governments have come to such a state as to consider these issues, which is evident in the announcements of the new government. The government has announced to take positive steps in the Chengara, Moolampilli and Endosulphan issues. The Solidarity could do a lot in bringing governments to considering people’s issues.”

The organisation would give emphasis to alternative methods in conformity with the indigenousness of Kerala, and give importance to the fields of energy and infrastructure. “Polarisation based on caste and religion has increased in Kerala. The Solidarity will try to create a stage of social co-existence, more in cooperation with Dalits, but at the same time working to ensure that each group of people get their rightful dues,” Mr Noushad added.

The newly-elected members of the working committee for the term 2011-2013 are P Mujeeb Rahman, KA Shafeeq, M Sajid, Kalathil Farooq, Dr K Muhammed Najeeb, NK Abdussalam, KA Faisal, MM Muhammed Umar, KK Basheer, SA Ajims, KM Maqbool, VA Aboobaker and Shaheen K Moidunni.

PI Noushad hails from Chenthrappinni in Thrissur district. He has earlier served as state general secretary and secretary of the Solidarity and state president of the SIO. General secretary T Muhammed Velom hails from Velom in Kozhikode district. He has earlier served as state committee member of the SIO and state secretary of the Solidarity.
