Goenka, named as the prime accused in 2G scam along with former communications minister Andimuthu Raja, moved an application before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini to sign documents related to the appointment of a new additional director for his company Siddhivinayak Realty Pvt. Ltd.

However, the court sought the CBI’s response on his application by June 6.

“The CBI will file its reply on the accused’s application by Monday,” said the court.

The CBI’s first charge sheet April 2 named Raja, former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura, Raja’s aide R.K. Chandolia, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, Goenka, Unitech Wireless’s Sanjay Chandra and three executives of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group — Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara.

In its April 25 supplementary charge sheet, the CBI named DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar as co-conspirators after it traced an illegal money trail of Rs.214 crore in the scam.

The supplementary charge sheet also named Cineyug Films founder Karim Morani and Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Aggarwal of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd.

The scam relates to alleged irregularities in the allocation of 2G spectrum (airwaves) to telecom firms, causing huge losses of Rs.30,000 crore to the national exchequer.
