Bhopal: The Popular Front of India (PFI) has cautioned people against the takeover of genuine public issues like corruption by dubious and controversial characters and the hidden agenda of communal fascist groups that sponsor such agitations.
A press release issued after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the PFI held at Calicut in Kerala said that it was ironical that Baba Ramdev who is projecting himself as a crusader against corruption has a record of accumulating huge mass of wealth through dubious means. It warned human rights and social activists as well as groups to keep away from the mock satyagraha headed by Ramdev. However, it added that the initial leniency of the government towards the satyagraha and the later eviction at midnight could have been avoided.
Meanwhile, in another resolution the meeting expressed solidarity with the people of the Arab-Muslim world who are fighting for political and economic freedom from inhuman and authoritarian regimes. It also expressed displeasure over the lukewarm attitude of the Central government in the issue of providing quota reservation to Muslims and other religious minorities as recommended by the Justice Mishra Commission. The organisation will start the next phase of agitation for Muslim reservation after discussing with all community and social organizations. The NEC meeting also gave final approval to the Nationwide Community Development Plan of the organisation.
