“Principal Sessions Judge Swapna Joshi adjourned the bail plea hearing as the central government is yet to come out with a notification on the appointment of Ujjwal Nikam as Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) public prosecutor,” Khan’s lawyer I.P. Bagaria told IANS.

Currently, Khan is in St. George’s Hospital here for undergoing treatment.

Bagaria said the ED told the court that it conducted searches Saturday at Khan’s residence at Peddar Road in south Mumbai. The ED sought the court’s permission to question Khan again for three days.

Khan was taken into custody by the ED March 17 after the Supreme Court cancelled bail granted to him by a trial court.

On March 21, the apex court sent him to ED custody for three days.

Among other things, Khan is suspected to have stashed away around $8 billion in Swiss bank accounts, transferring cash and assets out of the country through dubious means and evading taxes on income with a suspected liability of over Rs.40,000 crore.
