Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Saturday urged the central government to concede the demands of yoga guru Baba Ramdev who is on a fast against corruption and black money in the country.
Badal warned the central government that it should be ready to face the consequences in future, if anything untoward happened to the life of Baba Ramdev.
The yoga guru has been hospitalised in Dehradun after his health deteriorated Friday.
“The centre should have realised the significance of the social causes led by Baba Ramdev which had the mandate of every Indian who wanted to weed out corruption from the political system and bring back the black money from the foreign banks to the country,” Badal said while addressing a gathering at Patran town near Patiala, 100 km from here.
He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal was already a votary to end corruption and bringing back black money back to India.
He said: “Retrieving black money is not a a big issue. Only strong political will is needed, for which the centre must come forth.”
Badal said that the Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance government in Punjab will contest the next assembly elections on the plank of development, communal harmony and peace.
The assembly polls in Punjab are scheduled for February-March next year.
