Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who returned Sunday from his week-long China visit, said he was impressed by the country’s development in the energy, infrastructure, tourism and agricultural sectors.
“China’s development in several sectors impressed me. It is the quality of development that is laudable and amazing,” Nitish Kumar told reporters soon after he arrived in Patna.
The chief minister said that he visited several places, including modern power plants to manufacturing industries, tourist centres, the railway network and an agricultural field to personally understand the China model of development.
He said that he would send a delegation of Bihar’s legislators to China to learn development activities and new techniques.
“There were new areas of cooperation in sectors like tourism, power and agriculture where India and China could work together. Bihar in particular will benefit economically if tourists from China visit the Buddhist circuits,” Kumar said.
Nitish Kumar was accompanied by a high-powered delegation on his visit to China, which followed an official invitation.
This was the chief minister’s third official foreign visit in five-and-a-half years.
Nitish Kumar visited Mauritius in his first tenure in 2008. He visited Bhutan last month to explore investments and promote Bihar’s tourism.
