Army, IAF rescue 28 marooned villagers in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal : The Indian Army and Air Force have rescued 28 people marooned in three villages of Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district after the Sindh River flooded the area, officials said Friday.

These included 12 residents of village Vijrauni under Kolaras sub-division, 11 of village Gaurateela and five residents of village Bhadauta, District Collector Rajkumar Pathak said.

Army teams brought out the 17 people from Vijrauni and Bhaudata villages while the 11 people marooned in the floods in village Gaurateela were airlifted by IAF helicopters.

After the rescue, these 27 were medically checked and fed before being sent to safer places.

The district officials turned to the armed forces after rescue operations by police and paramilitary failed.
