Child rights body to visit Lucknow

New Delhi : A team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) will visit Lucknow Saturday to enquire about the status of investigation into the attack on a minor girl whose eyes were stabbed with a knife when she tried to resist a rape attempt.

V.K. Tikoo of NCPCR, who met the victim at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the capital where she has been shifted for treatment, said the commission has written to the district magistrate of Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh on the issue.

“NCPCR has written to the district magistrate of the Kannauj district on the issue. We will send a team to Lucknow tomorrow to find out about the status of investigation in the case,” Tikoo told IANS.

The incident happened June 14.
