Shobit’s family and friends gathered together and lit candles in front of his portrait at Jantar Mantar and said they were thoroughly disappointed with the police inability and inefficiency to make any headway in the murder.

“For about one month and 20 days, we kept quiet but I suppose one will always need to fight for justice in this country thus we demanded for the CBI to take up my grandson’s case. We can’t allow the murderers to go scot-free,” said M.C. Modi, Shobit’s grandfather.

Sapna, Shobit’s cousin, said: “We had full co-operation from the police for the first few days but as days passed they asked us not to meet the media not to make any comments, we did whatever they (Delhi Police) said but they started taking us for a ride.”

“We want justice and nothing else. We doubt the family of Shobit’s girlfriend as he was thereaned by them many times. We just ask police to inquire in a proper way and catch hold the murderer,” said Suraj Modi, Shobit’s father.

Twenty-year-old Shobit Modi, a second year information technology student from Manav Rachna University in Faridabad and an alumni of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, was stabbed to death near his residence at Vasant Kunj’s C-block May 5.

Shobit had four stab wounds, one on the chest, one in the abdomen and two in the back. He was taken to hospital by his father, where doctors pronounced him dead.
