Islamabad : At least eight people were killed Monday in a drone strike in northwest Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, officials said.
The pilotless aircraft fired four missiles at a vehicle in Wana, the main town in South Waziristan tribal area, sources told Xinhua.
The identities of those killed were not immediately known.
So far this year, drones have carried out around 40 strikes on militant hideouts in the mountainous tribal belt, killing over 300 people.
Drones have sometimes mistakenly killed innocent Pakistani civilians, leading to protests by the government.
