Release of innocent youths top on agenda of Jamiat General Body meet

By TCN News,

New Delhi: A number of innocent Muslim youths are languishing in jail for terror blasts carried out by Hindu extremist groups. They are in jail even after an RSS pracharak has confessed role for blasts at Mecca Masjid, Malegaon and Samjhauta Express. The General Body meeting of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind to be held here next week will mull strategy for release of these innocents.

A three-day conference of JUH General Body will commence on 6th March at its headquarters in New Delhi. On top of the agenda will be the release of innocent Muslims implicated on false charges.

Besides, Jamiat will consider resumption of its nationwide Muslim quota movement as the UPA government has failed to keep the promise within the deadline of six months. India’s largest Muslim group had last year launched “save the nation community agitation” campaign for Muslim reservation but after assurance from Congress leadership it had postponed the movement.

Another important issue, which may gain more significance in view of the coming assembly election in Assam, is the issue of genuine citizens of the North Eastern state. The Jamiat General Body will discuss protection of citizen’s rights of Assamese Muslims.

The General Body will also decide the inclusion of Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, MP from Assam, in the organization. Ajmal recently parted ways with another faction of Jamiat that is headed by Maulana Arshad Madani. The body will also elect two vice presidents of JUH and a treasurer.

The last session of the 3-day conference will be held on 8th March at Tal Katora Stadium. The public meeting will focus on Haj and Waqf issues.

On the need of the conference, JUH General Secretary and MP Mahmood Madani said: This conference is being held at a crucial time when efforts are on by communal forces to harass bonafide Assamese Muslims in the name of foreign intruders, Babri Mosque issue is being provoked for communal polarization and innocent persons are languishing in prison even after proven not guilty”. The meet will mull strategy and decide future course of action on all these issues.
