Indian Wells (California) : India’s Somdev Devvarman qualified for the second round of BNP Paribas Open tennis with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.
In the second round, Somdev will be up against 19th seed Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, who received a bye in the first round.
There was good news for India in the women’s doubles as Sania Mirza and her Russian partner Elina Vesnina won 6-4, 6-1 against the Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the first round.
