Chennai: AIADMK allies have expressed unhappiness over the list of 160 constituencies announced by the party which its candidates will contest in the April 13 assembly elections.
The allies are upset as discussions on identification of constituencies were still on and nothing had been finalised yet. The list announced by the AIADMK Wednesday includes many constituencies that the allies had asked for themselves.
“Our party leaders are discussing the emergence of the new situation today (Thursday). Only after that I can comment,” Tamil Nadu Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) D. Pandian told IANS.
According to the CPI, the party was allotted 10 seats and discussions were on with the AIADMK on the allotment of constituencies.
The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) is also discussing the development. It was allotted 12 seats in the AIADMK-led front.
AIADMK’s major ally DMDK, promoted by actor-turned-politician Vijayakant, was also discussing the list announced by the former.
AIADMK has reached agreement for 74 seats with 10 parties — DMDK (41), CPI-M (12), CPI (10), MNMK (3), PT (2), SMK (2) and Republican Party of India (1), All India Forward Bloc (1), Kongu Youth Federation (1) and AIMMK (1).
With the announcement of its candidates and constituencies, the AIADMK had silently announced the dumping of its long-time ally MDMK.
