Delhi Police gear up to tackle Holi hooliganism

New Delhi: Delhi Police have taken all precautions to prevent any kind of misconduct against women in the name of Holi revelry and nab drunk drivers. Policemen would be on the move across the city, an official said Friday.

Delhi is all set to celebrate Holi Sunday.

“Special teams will join policemen of the area on duty,” said a senior official.

Women constables will be on patrol as undercover agents to stop and nab anyone trying to harass girls and women, he added.

“Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of girls in the capital,” said the officer.

Delhi Traffic Police have issued warning against drunken driving in the name of Holi revelry.

“Drunk drivers will be arrested and their vehicle impounded. Besides, fines would be imposed,” said Joint Commissioner of Police Satyendra Garg.

“About 400 special traffic checking teams will be deployed across Delhi to check drunken driving,” Garg said.
