Cricket fan fires shots after India’s win, one hurt

Agra : A businessman was hurt when an excited cricket enthusiast fired two shots from his pistol after India clinched the crucial quarterfinal against Australia in the ongoing World Cup 2011.As Yuvraj Singh hit the winning boundary Thursday night, excitement reached a crescendo and businessman Ashok Arora flashed out his licensed revolver to fire two shots.

One shot hit a wall and boomeranged on Anil Verma, former president of Agra’s National Chamber of Industries and Commerce, whose back started bleeding.

The match was being watched on a projector screen at the Jaipur House colony.

Verma was immediately rushed to a private nursing home, where doctors said he was fine.

No complaint had been filed, police said.
