Islamabad : Pakistan’s security forces suffered heavy casualties Monday night when at least 14 of their soldiers were killed in a militants’ ambush, a media report said.The incident occurred when militants attacked security forces in Akakhel area of Khyber Agency, a tribal area that falls in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan.
The soldiers, including a captain and colonel, died as a mortar shell landed near them, Dawn reported.
Security forces had been conducting an operation in the area for past several days and had arrested a number of rebels, sources said.
