Mohali : A young man lost his life when he fell out of his car while celebrating India’s stupendous win over arch rivals Pakistan in the World Cup semifinal here, police said Thursday.
“Prabhjot Singh, a resident of Phase 3B2 in his early 20s, was waving out of his car while driving it. He lost his balance and fell out of the vehicle,” a police official said here.
“His friends, who were along with him in the car, took him to a private hospital where he died of his injuries later,” he added.
Following India’s 29-run victory over Pakistan, scores of cricket lovers came out on the streets of Mohali and nearby Chandigarh for the celebrations. They danced to the beats of Punjabi dhol (drum) and distributed sweets. Fireworks also lighted up the night sky.
India has now reached the finals of the 2011 World Cup which it will play with Sri Lanka in Mumbai Saturday.
