51K Haj applicants against quota of 35K in UP; lottery on May 16

Lucknow: The Qurrah (lottery) for selecting the devotees for Haj pilgrimage will be held on May 16th at Ganna Sansthan in Dalibagh in Lucknow. The State Haj Committee (SHC) has received 51100 forms against a quota of nearly 35000 seats for Haj-2011.

Senior cabinet minister and Chairman, SHC, Naseemuddin Siddiqui informed newsmen that all the aspirants have been given information through phone and SMS. The information is also available on the official website of SHC. Further information can be procured from helpline numbers 0522-6591138, 6591139,6590893 and 9235610680.

Preference will be given to devotees who have applied continuously for past three years but could not succeed. The pilgrims over 70 years of age will also be given weightage. All the facilities will be available only if the applicant has valid international Haj passport with them.
