Rome : The eldest daughter of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has dismissed reports that she was interested in following in the footsteps of her 74-year-old father into politics.
There have been numerous reports in the media that 44-year-old Marina Berlusconi was being groomed for a future leadership role in her father’s ruling People of Freedom party.
“Seriously, I have never contemplated entering politics. It wouldn’t be a role for me, I like my job and my position in the Fininvest group,” Marina told Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
“Obviously, political leadership is not something that is inherited or formally conferred. Each individual has to build this and win over supporters,” she said.
Marina is the chairperson of the Berlusconi family’s Fininvest media company and the publishing house Arnoldo Mondadori Editore.
Marina was ranked No.33 on the Forbes magazine’s 2007 list of the world’s most powerful women.
