Darul Huda Islamic University silver jubilee celebrations held

Malappuram: The silver jubilee celebrations of the Darul Huda Islamic University, Chemmad, in Malappuram, came to an end on Sunday. Thousands flowed to the closing session of the three-day celebrations at the Hidaya Nagar which saw a huge public meeting.

Dr Samir Mud’hir Kantakji, chairman of the Scandinavian University in Norway, inaugurated the closing session. Darul Huda Chancellor Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal presided over the session in which Cherusseri Sainudheen Musliyar, Pro-Chancellor of the university and general secretary of the Samastha Kerala Jam’iyathul Ulema, delivered the chief address. Businessman MA Yusufali and Dr Azad Mooppan were chief guests. Moulavi Fadil Hudawi received the graduation certificates from the Chancellor Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal on behalf of 150 young scholars who have completed 12 years of studies at the university.

Writer PK Parakkadavu inaugurated the teenagers’ meet held on Sunday. Earlier, Panakkad Munawarali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the Leaders’ Dialogue and ETV Urdu chairman Mufti Muhammed Salman inaugurated the National Students Meet in which around 500 students from different states participated.

The various seminars held as part of the celebrations were noted for their content and participants. While inaugurating the Urdu media seminar, Nihmatullah Hamidi, editor of the ‘Sahara Daily’, emphasized on the contribution of the Urdu media to national growth. He said that the national media should act more responsibly to free Indian Muslims of marginalization and to accelerate their growth. Mufti Muhammed Salman was the chief guest. Alavikkutty Hudawi presented a paper on ‘the role of media in the social and educational development of Indian Muslims’. Panakkad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, Abdulla Hudawi (news anchor at Akashwani), Dr Hafiz Ahmed Hasan Razwi and Abdul Majeed Hudawi (Al Jazeera Qatar) spoke.

The Fiq’h seminar opined that a re-reading of the Islamic jurisprudence was the need of the time. MT Abdulla Musliyar inaugurated the seminar presided over by Hameedali Shihab Thangal. District Collector PM Francis and Dakshin Kannada Qadi Thaqa Ahammed Musliyar were chief guests. The Islamic economics seminar opined that the Islamic economic methods and interest-free system can control the global economic crisis. Dr Samir Mud’hir Kantakji inaugurated the seminar presided over by Panakkad Basheerali Shihab Thangal. Dr Abu Saleh Shareef, member of the Sachar Committee, inaugurated the seminar on the Muslim world, presided over by Panakkad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal.
Central Minister of State for Agriculture Prof KV Thomas inaugurated the session ‘Individual, family and society’. Prof PT Abdul Azeez talked about ‘remote parenting’ and Dr Faisal Hudawi, assistant professor at the AMU off-campus centre, gave a talk on ‘social change and Muslim family’. Prof KM Bahauddin Nadwi presented a paper on ‘Muslim India: the way forward’.

The silver jubilee celebrations began on Friday when the university Chancellor Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal hoisted the flag in the afternoon in the Hidaya Nagar at Chemmad. Maharashtra Governor K Shankaranarayanan, while inaugurating the conference, said that other states in the country should see Kerala as an example for the enlightenment and progress in the socio-religious fields of the state’s Muslims. The leaders of other states should get ready to establish educational institutions like this, he added. Director of Public Instruction in Kerala AP Muhammed Haneesh was the chief guest in the inaugural session presided over by Chancellor Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal.
