Bahwnagar: Due to threat and harassment from land mafia in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, and apathy of the police to provide security, Shamim Bano Usman Gani Fatani, 34, a resident of Bhilwad in Bahvnagar attempted to commit suicide in the office of Director General of Police (DGP) in Gandhinagar on Monday.

It’s said that she had consumed sleeping pills before coming to DGP office to repeat her demand of providing security, which was denied to her earlier by the local police and later by the DGP himself.

Officers in the DGP office called the ambulance and sent her to the Gandhinagar civil hospital when she suddenly fell down from the stairs in the DGP office and turned unconscious.

A letter addressed to the DGP of Gujarat, found from Shamim Bano, states that some gangsters related to the land mafia are threatening her regularly to sell her house cheaply in Bahvnagar.

Sources told to TwoCrcles.net that when the threats turned ugly and started coming at regular interval, Shami Bano applied for security but that was denied by the local Bhavnagar Police station.

She then approached the DGP but was not granted the security here either.
